Clubs

We try to offer a wide range of interesting activities for the children to participate in outside curriculum hours. Some clubs may last a set number of weeks, others may continue throughout the year. Clubs which are run by external agencies will be chargeable but we do negotiate to make this as affordable as possible for our families. Clubs may be available for certain year groups or may be school-wide. Some examples are below for our current year:

Football Club - Tuesday lunchtime - Y5/6 football club. After warm-up and skills practice we usually play matches. We have a successful football team and take part in competitions every year. We are current and recent holders of the Houlighan trophy as small schools champions of Wirral (2010-11, 2014-15 and 2017-18 season)!

Cross Country Club - Wednesdays - In y4-6 cross country club we practise running laps. We take part in inter-school competitions, which are a lot of fun. We have been really successful over the last few years, with individual and team successes and we are always well supported by children and families!

Judo - Spring Term Wednesday mornings - This club is available to Y3-6 in Spring term as a before school club. Sometimes a club is run in Summer term for younger children as well! We learn how to bow and how to do several moves.

Gymnastics - The Infant children have the chance to try their gymnastic skills in creating sequences and moves to music!

Multi-sports - On Thursdays (Y3-6) - the children have the chance to try out a variety of games skills that help them learn team skills, including catching, throwing, defence and attack and shooting.

Cycling - For a few weeks in the Autumn, special coaches come in to help Year 5 children learn to cycle safely on the road.

Fencing - Tuesdays - KS2 children can take part in this exciting and unusual sport. We are current Merseyside and Cheshire champions!

Tennis - Heswall Tennis Club staff run an after school club for Infant and Junior children, usually during the Spring term.

Chess - This is run by Miss Sothern at lunchtime for Junior-aged children (usually on Thursdays).

Zumba - This is a mixture of agility and dance where the older children can take on some leadership roles.

Netball - Mondays - Mrs Fletcher runs this club for upper junior children. Matches are played against other local schools.

There are many more activities which go on during the year; this is just a taste!
