Message to families

19th July 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Well we made it! The end of term is here. It really has been a challenging and difficult year for everyone. However, yet again, our school community have supported each other and we have got through it together. I am so grateful to our parental community for your continued support, love and commitment to Gayton Primary throughout these times. I honestly can’t put into words how much your support means but I am so proud to be the Headteacher of Gayton with such a supportive parent community, dedicated staff and governors and wonderful children who make me smile every day!

Huge thanks to our amazing staff, who really have given everything this year in such exceptional circumstances. Their endless positivity and creativity is inspiring and I am so thankful to them all for everything. They really have had to adapt this year to completely new ways of working and have risen to the challenge brilliantly. I wish them all a restful and safe summer holiday and know that they will look forward to returning in the autumn term ready to meet their new classes and we remain ever hopeful that the autumn term is going to bring a sense of normality for us all.

Finally to our governors. I am very grateful to them all for the time and effort they dedicate to the school in a completely voluntary capacity. They again, have given above and beyond this year and I want to thank them all for their time and commitment.

Today, we have said goodbye to our lovely Year 6 pupils as they move onto their next exciting adventure. I am incredibly proud of all of them for demonstrating such amazing resilience over the last 18 months. They have continually had to face disappointments and challenges but they have dealt with this with such maturity and are a credit to the school and their families.

We wish them so much happiness and success for the future and hope that they will continue to pop by and say hello and keep us updated with how they are getting on at their new high schools.

We wish all our families a safe summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming our children back to school on Thursday 2nd September 2021. I will be in touch before the end of the holidays to share our covid 19 risk assessment and update any guidance as required.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding,

Kind regards,

Mrs McAleny
