OPAL play afternoons with parents

25th March 2022
Dear parents/carers,

RE: OPAL Outdoor play and learning parent sessions.

Just a reminder that we are hosting our parent/carer sessions for OPAL on the following dates:

Monday 28th March 2022 from 2:00pm-3:00pm for parents of children in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4.

Wednesday 30th March 2022 from 2:00pm- 3:00pm for parents of children in Y1 and Y6.

Friday 1st April 2022 from 2:00pm- 3:00pm for parents of children in Y5 and F2.

Please enter and exit via the junior gate on the main playground. Please note that this gate will be locked at around 2:10pm to ensure that the children are safe so please do try and arrive between 2:00pm-2:10pm.

At the end of the session, we will provide the opportunity for you to have a look at your child's books as well as we know you missed out on this at the last parents' evening.

As an OPAL school, we will be continually striving to improve the quality of our play offer for all our children. Play is so critical to children's health and wellbeing and it is essential for their physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual development. We have only been on our OPAL journey for one year and still have lots of plans for exciting developments but we wanted parents to come along now so that you can hopefully see the vision for what we are trying to provide for our children.

Mrs Such (our play curricular lead) and Miss Wear (our play coordinator) along with our wider play team have been working hard to improve play opportunities for our children. We are very grateful for all the donations that we have received from parents for the programme, but there are some specific things that we do really want to buy to enhance our provision further. Therefore on the afternoon, we will have some wish lists where parents can sign up to say that they would purchase something specific for our OPAL developments or you may be willing to make a small donation in our donation bucket so that we can use this to fund future improvements. (This will be entirely optional for parents.)

We are really looking forward to welcoming parents to join us for our play sessions next week and hope that you will be able to join us.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Mrs McAleny
