September plans 2020

2nd July 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you are all well and are coping during these continued difficult times. From next Wednesday (8th July) until the end of term we are going to be welcoming our Y6 pupils back to Gayton on a part-time basis. We have desperately been trying to find a workable solution to allow this to happen and are now in a position to be able to do this.

Today the Government have provided guidance to schools regarding returning all our pupils to school for September. We have already been working on our plans and hope that the new guidance will provide clarity regarding what school will look like in September. As soon as I am able to, I will of course be sharing these plans with all parents. For now, I am just confirming that all pupils will return full-time on Wednesday 2nd September 2020. There will still be a wide range of control measures in place to ensure the safety of staff and pupils and these will be shared with parents in due course.

I know some of you may still be worried about your child returning to school after such a long time away. Please try not to worry. We will do everything we can to settle your children back into school quickly, build confidence and deal with any concerns or worries you may have.

This really has been such an unprecedented time and we have all been facing huge changes to life as we know it. I understand that this may have been a stressful time for many of our families and personally cannot wait to have our school community physically reunited again. Thank you to everyone for your continued support and please know that there is nothing that we want more than to return all our pupils to school in September.

Tomorrow, I will be sending out the information regarding the project work for the last two weeks of the school term. This will culminate with an opportunity for all families to come and view our living museum on the playground showcasing all the wonderful work from our pupils in school and at home. (This will be staggered throughout the day to ensure it is in keeping with social distance guidelines.) This event will take place on Wednesday 15th July 2020 and further information will be sent home tomorrow.

We will of course continue to provide the White Rose Maths and reading comprehension work (Y1- Y6) as well in case you would still like your child to continue with these.

Once again, thank you for your continued support.

Mrs McAleny
