Update regarding R level North West

6th June 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have been informed last night that the most recent reproduction (R) median value for the North West region is reported as being 1.01. The Secretary of State has previously made it clear as one of his 5 tests that the R value should be below 1 before it would be safe for schools to open to more children. As a consequence of this, many local schools who were able to open to more pupils on Monday 8th June 2020 will not be doing so.

You will be aware that Gayton opened to the families of more critical workers on Monday 1st June 2020 and we are now running at capacity with the six bubbles we have open. However, as all of our bubbles are dedicated to the families of critical workers and vulnerable children we will continue to remain open for these children on Monday 8th June 2020.

Despite lockdown restrictions being eased in the UK, it really is vital that people continue to follow Public health guidelines and observe social distancing restrictions to continue to stay safe.

Stay safe everyone.

Mrs McAleny
